Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for a Test Engineer, WebRTC End-to-End Encryption (Android, iOS, Web) on behalf of our client, an innovative leader advancing secure real-time communication solutions!
This is a full-time, onsite opportunity in Del Mar, CA for a skilled engineer to design, automate, and execute large-scale test strategies across mobile and web applications. The role will be instrumental in validating custom end-to-end encryption running on WebRTC, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security across the organization’s suite of software platforms.
• Competitive compensation: $150 – $200/hour DOE (Direct Hire / Permanent)
• Onsite role in beautiful Del Mar, CA (priority given to San Diego/Del Mar candidates; limited LA commute flexibility considered)
• Opportunity to build and operate large-scale device labs and network simulations
• Collaborate with a close-knit, highly technical engineering team focused on secure real-time media
• Work on cutting-edge technology at the forefront of encrypted communications
• Create, maintain, and execute test plans for Android, iOS, and Web applications using custom WebRTC E2EE
• Build, configure, and operate an in-house device lab (tens to hundreds of devices), including automated provisioning and labeling
• Implement remote orchestration and control systems for device management
• Develop and integrate automated test suites for functional, regression, performance, network, and security testing
• Simulate adverse and real-world network conditions using tc/netem and commercial network impairment tools (PacketStorm, Spirent, Keysight)
• Define and track KPIs for real-time media quality, latency, and encryption reliability
• Execute large-scale multi-party call tests and design fault-injection and failure-recovery scenarios
• Collaborate closely with development teams to isolate issues, report bugs, and ensure fast resolution
• Maintain device coverage across multiple platforms and produce detailed test reports and release readiness recommendations
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 2+ years of hands-on testing experience with Android, iOS, and Web applications
• Mobile automation experience with tools such as Appium, Espresso, XCTest/XCUITest, Detox, or Playwright
• Strong proficiency in Android Studio, Xcode, and browser devtools
• Python/JavaScript scripting experience with solid Bash and Linux command-line proficiency
• Excellent documentation, test planning, and bug reporting skills
• Familiarity with packet analysis (Wireshark) and network simulation tools
• Experience with CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and maintaining test artifacts such as logs, pcaps, screenshots, and videos
• Experience building or maintaining device labs, automating provisioning and control
• Understanding of audio/video quality metrics and E2EE concepts, including key lifecycle, security boundaries, and resilience to downgrade or replay attacks
• Ability to handle hardware-level tasks such as cabling, bench setup, power cycling, and camera/microphone peripheral management
