Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Lead Data Migration Architect (Backup & Archiving) for our client, a leading IT Infrastructure Systems Integrator! This is a long-term contract opportunity open to remote candidates with a preference for Toronto-based applicants.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Join a high-impact migration initiative for a prominent international bank. The project involves migrating hundreds of petabytes of data from on-premises storage to the cloud. The discovery and study phases are complete, and now the focus is on executing the migration. The environment features object storage primarily managed through data transfer via Data Domain, with core technologies including Dell ECS, Dell Data Domain, and Dell Networker.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the technical execution of a major backup and archiving data migration project from on-premises infrastructure to cloud.

Serve as the project and technical lead, coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure seamless migration and data integrity.

Design and implement robust object storage transfer solutions, leveraging Dell ECS, Data Domain, and Networker platforms.

Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including engineering and sales teams, to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables.

Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges during migration phases, ensuring minimal downtime and data security.

Provide strategic guidance, best practices, and technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
QUALIFICATIONS

7+ years of experience in enterprise data infrastructure and backup/archiving solutions.

Proven expertise in Dell ECS, Dell Data Domain, and Dell Networker software.

Demonstrated success leading complex infrastructure and data protection projects.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to operate effectively as a technical project manager and team lead.

Exceptional communication and soft skills to coordinate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Prior Dell experience is highly desirable.

AWS experience is a plus.
