Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Director of Client Accounting & Advisory Services on behalf of a dynamic and growing professional services organization. This fully remote role offers the opportunity to partner directly with business leaders across a variety of industries while leading high-impact financial and accounting engagements.
This position is ideal for a consultative accounting leader who enjoys working in a client-facing environment and thrives in a fast-paced, solutions-oriented setting. The Director will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, oversee multiple engagements simultaneously, and guide teams in delivering high-quality accounting and finance solutions.
Position Overview:
The Director will lead and manage accounting advisory engagements from planning through delivery. This individual will build strong client relationships, identify opportunities to expand services, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery. The role blends technical accounting expertise, financial analysis, and client relationship management.
Key Responsibilities:
-Serve as the primary relationship lead for assigned client engagements, acting as a trusted financial advisor
-Manage multiple concurrent consulting engagements and oversee engagement timelines, deliverables, and communication
-Provide technical accounting guidance related to GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
-Oversee financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling activities
-Partner with client leadership teams to identify operational and financial improvements
-Collaborate with internal teams to scope projects, allocate resources, and monitor engagement performance
-Support business development initiatives, including identifying opportunities to expand services within existing accounts
-Mentor and develop accounting staff and engagement team members
-Review financial deliverables and reporting for accuracy, completeness, and quality
-Assist clients with accounting process improvements, system implementations, and reporting enhancements
-Present financial insights and recommendations to client leadership and stakeholders
Qualifications:
-10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or advisory services
-Prior experience in public accounting, accounting advisory, outsourced accounting, or consulting environments strongly preferred
-Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and multiple engagements simultaneously
-Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
-Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
-Proven leadership experience supervising or mentoring staff
-Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
-CPA strongly preferred
Preferred Background:
-Client Accounting Services (CAS) or advisory practice experience
-Fractional CFO, Controller consulting, or outsourced accounting leadership
-Experience working with multiple industries or small-to-mid-sized businesses
-ERP and financial systems implementation exposure
Compensation & Benefits:
This position offers a competitive salary of $150,000 + bonus & benefits package which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan options, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
