Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search to find an experienced PR and Social Media Manager! Our client is a prominent, non-partisan leadership organization dedicated to furthering the inclusion of Chinese Americans within the US through constructive dialogue and relationship-building across academia, the arts, business, public service, and science. This fantastic opportunity is located in downtown New York City, where this organization currently works on a hybrid schedule (4 days remote and 1 day onsite)! 

POSITION OVERVIEW: 
This position requires a collaborative, mission-driven individual to implement the organization’s social media content strategies and interactions with the public. The right individual is skilled at analyzing engagement data, identifying customer interaction trends, and planning digital campaigns to build community online. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications, the PR and Social Media Manager understands how to engage audiences, leverage monitoring tools for insights, and align their work with organizational goals. 
 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Develop, implement, and execute a comprehensive social media calendar built around organically created content while maximizing existing content such as organizational news, events, and programs. 
  • Identify news angles and prepare storylines that are relevant to the organization’s position on key issues and topics. 
  • Engage with editors and reporters regularly to pitch stories, produce story ideas, and determine where the organization can lend its voice to an existing or created storyline. 
  • Cultivate the organization’s social media channels, fostering engagement strategies that showcase the organization’s growth while also monitoring the results. 
  • Prepare all aspects of social media campaigns, events promotion, podcasts, and other campaign event needs. 
  • Assist with blog writing, content development, organizational event support via social media, and post-event follow-up. 
  • Collaborate with other team members to create and maintain all communications, management systems, and shared event planning. 
  • Consistently engage with the U.S. and Chinese media. 

*Currently, this position with our client requires employees to report to work at a physical location 1 day per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • 2+ years of experience as a communications/PR manager, social media manager, or similar role. 
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with social media platforms and their best practices, including (but not limited to) Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube. 
  • Proficiency in social media management tools (such as Sprout Social and Cision), content management systems (such as WordPress), and Microsoft software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 
  • Ability to craft engaging written content, including bylines, internal memos, press releases, and op-eds. 
  • Exceptionally flexible, meticulous, and organized, with the ability to work on multiple projects at once in a dynamic, variable setting. 
  • Demonstrated project management skills in prioritizing projects, establishing expectations, meeting deadlines, and producing regular, quality work. 
  • Ability to monitor, report, and disclose progress on tasks and programs proactively and continually. 
  • Commitment to supporting the full inclusion and advancement of Chinese Americans in the United States. 
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. 
  • Flexible and open to working evenings and weekends as needed. 
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for conferences. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree related to Asian American studies, East Asian studies, ethnic studies, business, international relations, communications, journalism, or other related fields. 
  • Familiarity with graphic design and website management using WordPress. 
  • Fluency in Mandarin. 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: 
In addition to providing a unique opportunity to join a mission-driven team, our client offers a competitive base salary of $75,000–$90,000 (DOE) for this role.
