Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced Security Compliance Consultant for our client, a wonderful IT Nonprofit Organization in based in NYC! You’ll utilize your knowledge of FERPA (Family Rights and Privacy Act) and PII (Personally Identifiable Information) to ensure the organization is compliant with these regulations; as well as providing risk assessment and mitigation. This is a part time (about 8 hours a week), remote, contract position.

• Compensation range is $50-56/hr, depending on experience

• Reviewing agreements, contracts for data licensing and service agreements; ensuring that compliance with FERPA, PII
• Assess potential issues and suggest improvements/adjustments to minimize security risk in vendor/partnership agreements
• Meet with cross functional teams such as legal, vendor teams, and partners to answer questions on data sharing security and compliance
• Review SOPs and develop security procedures and policies

• Academic credentials in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field preferred
• Demonstrated experience reviewing data sharing, contracts, and licensing agreements
• Expertise in regulatory framework, including FERPA and GDPR
• Experience in the higher education industry
• Ability to discuss complex security issues in a way that can be easily understood for non-technical audiences
• One or more of the following certifications preferred: CISM, CCSP, CISSP, CRISC, CISA, CEH
• JD is a plus
