Different Types of Creative Staffing Explained

There is a lot of jargon out there to describe and explain the types of creative staffing. Do you know the difference between contract-to-hire and direct hire staffing? Have you wondered what the process of an Executive Search is like; should you need to hire for a creative leadership role at your business? We’re here to break down commonly misunderstood staffing and recruitment terms so you can make the best educated decision for your business and team, when it comes to adding a new team member!

Types of Staffing

Contract

Every business wants more efficient and simple hiring practices. As challenges associated with traditional forms of hiring are growing, contract staffing is becoming a helpful solution for growing team. Your company pays the agency directly and the agency is then responsible for payroll taxes and benefits such as insurance. As per the contract, companies pay them a fixed amount for a specific period of time. Under this arrangement, candidates working for the company are contractors.

Contract-to-Hire

While contract-to-hire workers are also brought on for a specified length of time, there is a permanent need the company wants to fill. Therefore, should they be a good fit, the company has all intentions of offering the contract worker a permanent position once the contract period is up. At this time, the worker transitions from being employed by the staffing firm to being employed by the company.

Direct Hire

A direct hire is a recruitment for a company made in partnership with an employment agency, to fill a long-term need. Although a direct hire is recruited by a staffing and recruitment agency, the candidate will become an employees of the company. The position is permanent and inclusive of all company benefits.

Executive Search or Retained

Executive search refers to locating, recruiting, selection and placement of individuals for senior-level managerial and leadership positions. Executive searches work with board members to present candidates and guide the interviewing and hiring process.
